What if I am not used to exercise?
DON'T PANIC! The way that Nia has been constructed means it can be tuned to you as an individual, so you work at your own pace within the group.
Ok, but what if I am quite fit already?
The less fit members of the class will not hold you up, as Nia can be tuned to you as well.
What is Nia?
Nia combines a diverse blend of Western and Eastern movements, concepts and philosophies from the worlds of the healing arts (love), martial arts (mindfulness), and dance (technique). Nia reaches people emotionally, in their hearts, motivating them to get fit and healthy by creating a deep personal desire to explore their potential and improve their well- being.
Who created Nia?
In 1983, at the height of the no-pain no-gain fitness mentality, Carlos Rosas and Debbie Rosas, both successful fitness instructors in California USA, crafted a more holistic way of healthy well-being. They discovered that getting fit and healthy through pleasure is the way to heal, and is the key to health. Nia was born, - which embraces individual creativity and self-empowerment and is now recognized as one of the most innovative and safe cardiovascular of activities. Nia is now taught in nearly every state in United States, as well as in 30+ other countries around the world.
Does Nia require special equipment?
No, Nia requires no equipment and is designed to be performed in bare feet.
Does Nia require a trained teacher?
Yes. Nia teachers are required to attend the White Belt Intensive Training to become certified, and they must purchase and renew an annual license to teach Nia.
